Power 97 is searching for the BEST rock bands in Manitoba to join the River City Rocks Class of 2012!
Started in 2003, the River City Rocks local band search awards Manitoba bands with the opportunity to break their music on to the Canadian music scene. Up until 2008, the main prize was inclusion on a CD compilation; but the prevalence of mp3 players and decline of the compact disc has led Power 97 to shift the focus of the competition to online interactivity and band exposure.

Not only can bands sign up to the Power 97 River City Rocks community, but fans can too! Starting May 16th, fans will vote (up to once per day) to help Power 97 determine the Top 20 bands in Power 97’s River City Rocks. http://power97.supernova.com/signup/fan
Here's a rundown of the stages in the competition:
Stage 1: Band Sign Up: April 10 @ 9:00am until May 15 @ 11:59pm
Enter your band online at power97.supernova.com
Stage 2: Fan Voting: May 16 @ 12:00am until June 15 @ 11:59pm
Online fan voting at power97.supernova.com will pick the Top 20 bands
Stage 3: Judges Selection: June 16 until June 22
From the fan voted Top 20, Power 97 panel will pick the Top Four bands
Stage 4: Winners Announced: June 25, 26, 27, 28 @ 9:20pm
One winning band per day will be revealed on the evening show with Holly Bausman at 9:20pm
Each submitting band will get their own Power 97 profile, where fans can listen to and interact with their music. Band profiles will remain on http://power97.supernova.com throughout the year for continued exposure.
