Biography

For nearly 5 years SOUNDSTEM has been continually raising the bar for hard rock bands in the Vancouver area. Brought together in 2007 by founding members Doran Vass (Vocals/Guitar) and Randy Williams (Bass/Vocals). The group pulls influence from a wide variety of past favorites including Hard Rock, Blues, and Heavy Metal in order to deliver a sound that offers a little something for every musical ...taste. The vast diversity in songwriting from singer Doran Vass blends classic melody with a modern edge. His music has proven to capture the hearts of his listeners.. as all good music should! Teaming up with Lawrence Dumont (Guitar/Vocals) and Jay Lee (Drums) the band has their sights set on success. Amazing energy, top-notch musicianship, stunning visuals and a fantastic set-list make every SOUNDSTEM show an event not soon to be forgotten! Their debut self titled album was released in 2007, in cooperation with producer Tim Neuhaus at Earart Studio's in Delta BC. The 10 track LP spans several genre's with a definitive "SOUNDSTEM" touch. The album has met great response both locally and overseas via iTunes, and has been used in numerous Extreme Sports DVD's by award winning action film director Thomas Opre. The track "Bred For War" has even snagged a spot in an upcoming movie starring the Hoff! In 2008 SOUNDSTEM was a finalist for the 99.3 FOX Vancouver SEEDS competition. Placing in the top 10 out of over 400 bands was a huge push in helping the band gain recognition in the local scene. The next few years saw many great opportunities including an opening spot with Econoline Crush, as well as a successful cross Canada tour leading up to the winter of 2010. The much anticipated sophomore album "Tomorrow Can Wait" was released on April 29th, 2011 and was nothing short of a spectacle. More than 350 people packed the house at Rock Sugar night club in Langley BC, as the band put on a dazzling display complete with a massive stage setting, choreographed effects and even dancing girls dawning signature "Club Candy" apparel. The whole show was captured in HD video and will soon be released as a live DVD available for purchase by the fans. While the first album tends to dive deeper into social issues with tracks like "Respect" and "So Grim", "Tomorrow Can Wait" focuses more on the lighter side of things as displayed in "Lights On" and "Club Candy". Living every moment for today is a definative theme for every track on the album.
