Greg Arcade is not the flavour of the month. He is not a fad. He is not a result of recreational drug use, something to impress your friends with, or a get rich quick scheme. He is, however, years of raw, soul bearing, dues paid - music, made for those who hide nothing, made for those who want to hide nothing, and made for those who hide everything.
You can say it all started the first, and only, time that he took a lesson. Single digit age, less than five, and the kid wouldn’t sit down for five minutes to hear the lady out. Rules, procedures, accepted standards; this was never in the books for Greg Arcade, and so the young tyke shut his eyes and went to sleep, awaiting the day of his awakening.
Years went by, over a decade in fact, and the passion of a thousand lovers’ souls coupled with the torment of a thousand fallen warriors-of-old toiled and spun without resolve, but then... a spark! a light! and the entrance to the tunnel was in sight. Fourth came the flow of musical legions back to back fighting unspeakable horrors, all from the tips of this one boy’s fingers, but you would not hear of his power, because even before truly becoming a man, the focus and determination of our young protagonist was deeply embedding in his actions; the music of the street would be his first mastery, so that he could understand the basis for all that is right, and all that is wrong. Night to night the textures of various instruments would resonate through his head, and Greg Arcade would take anything that made a sound as an extension of, not only his body, but, his soul.
When he finally broke out and took up the name, which was chosen for him by the powers which move music & time (on October 31st of 2009), Greg Arcade had one objective: “Fix Rock & Roll.” And he will fix it. And you will remember his name, for it beckons the words which he lives by, and broadcasts freely to you, “Bright light shine brighter when the circuit is about to break. Ask yourself, “Are you a filament, or a breaker that lays in wait?”.” He lives by it. A balance of spreading his message for positive-relative change, mixed with the understanding that, although we must be careful about what we say with our expression of art, if it were all supposed to be serious, this would be quite the depressing place, creates a potent cocktail of fun and progression. It also creates confusion among the people who aren’t paying attention, much like soldiers in a firefight; much like the previous two sentences, so please pay attention.
The founding member of The Noble Thiefs, and original conceptualizer behind the ska & reggae free-label A1 Records, Mr. Arcade has garnered fame in small pockets all over the world: to the east in Montreal & Toronto, across the oceans in the United Kingdom, Italy, France, & Poland, and as far out as Indonesia. Greg’s expeditions have tapped listeners all over the world on the shoulder and said, “Hey, look at this.” People may be watching, but if they’re not listening they might not hear the freight-train slap-in-the-face which is headed their way.
Greg Arcade is the last vestige of the man’s man and the World’s last, and best, hope for the rejuvenation of the Soul-Music nation. He is the real deal, and he lives for music in every respect. It’s not because he want’s the money, and it’s not because he want’s a moment in the spotlight... It’s because the world birthed him into this. The world needs him equally as much as he owes it to the world. Music isn’t a sport, it’s an element, and he’s going to light it up like a filament.
